Supplier verification · for businesses that supply tourism

Have your claim verified.

Hotels, lodges, restaurants and tour operators are asked for proof about what they buy. If you supply them, we verify one specific claim you make, so they can use your figures in their own reporting.

Example. The scope line always names exactly what was checked.

How it works

One claim at a time. You set out how your figures are worked out; we check them.

  1. 1Short call

Agree the claim, the period and what records you already hold.

    About an hour
  2. 2Your method and records

You write down how the figures are worked out and keep the records behind them. We check the method; we don't design it.

    Your side, a few weeks
  3. 3Verification

Desk review, reconciliation, sample checks on records, and a visit where it matters.

    A few weeks
  4. 4Mark and statement

Your Verified mark, a verification statement and a listing in the directory.

    Valid 12 months

What you get

The Verified mark

The theme tile, the word Verified and a scope line naming the claim. Use it on your website, proposals and statements.

A verification statement

The figures, scope, period, method and what was checked, to publish with your own reporting.

A directory listing

Buyers can check your claim and its valid-to date in the Proven Places directory.

Checked statements you issue

If you send figures to customers regularly, ongoing checks keep your method verified, so those statements can carry the Verified mark and its valid-to date.

Which suppliers we verify

Criteria are written for each kind of supplier as suppliers ask for them, then published for comment. Each kind gets its own page here once its criteria are published.

Rules for every claim

These apply whatever you supply.

Real units, stated methods

Figures in real units, such as kilograms. Meals, water or carbon only with a stated, sourced method.

Claims match what was checked

What you publish matches the verified figures, period and scope. No claim stretches to the whole company.

A statement before you publish

You get the verification statement before the figures go out.

We check, we don't advise

You design your method. Whoever verifies it has not helped you prepare it.

Your data stays yours

Records are confidential and used only for verification. Only verified figures and the scope line are published.

12 months, then renewed

Renewal takes a fresh sample and a desk review. Ongoing checks apply to statements you issue regularly.

What it costs

Priced by scope after a short call, because the work depends on the claim and the records behind it. The fee never depends on the result.

Tell us what you supply

We'll reply within two working days to set up a short call. What suppliers ask for decides which criteria we write next.

Questions

Is this certification?

No. Certification is for tourism businesses and covers how they run. Supplier verification checks one specific claim a supplier makes.

Can you help us get ready?

We don't advise on a method we then verify. You design how your figures are worked out; we check it.

Where can we use the mark?

On your website, proposals and the statements you issue, always with its scope line, so nobody reads it as covering more than was checked.

What if our claim doesn't pass?

You get a note of what fell short and can come back once it's fixed. The fee doesn't depend on the result.

How long does it take?

Usually a few weeks once your method and records are ready. The short call tells you what to expect for your claim.

Our kind of supply isn't listed

Tell us what you supply. We write criteria for each kind of supplier as they ask for them, and publish them for comment.
